Genealogist Ellen Shindelman Kowitt, director of JewishGen's USA Research Division and cousin of JGSTB member Scott Mandel, will interview Arthur Kurzweil, a leading voice in Jewish genealogy, on Jewish ethics and genealogy. The virtual interview will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3. From the JewishGen announcement:

"Genealogy in Judaism is more than a historical account; it connects individuals to a collective story, reinforcing duties toward family, community, and future generations. At the same time, Jewish ethical teachings—rooted in texts such as the Torah and Talmud—offer guiding principles on justice, compassion, and accountability that transcend biological ties. Together, these two dimensions shape a distinctive worldview in which heritage informs behavior, and ethical conduct sustains the legacy of a people. Exploring their relationship reveals how identity, memory, and morality intersect within Jewish life and thought."
