Using Artificial Intelligence for Genealogical Research

The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay’s Sunday, May 18, meeting will feature a presentation by member Cheryl Segal on how you can use Artificial Intelligence for your Jewish genealogical research.

Genealogy search sites like Ancestry and MyHeritage have incorporated Artificial Intelligence into their programs, but AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Claude can be valuable tools for individual genealogists as well. Segal will give concrete guidance and examples of how and when to use AI as well as potential pitfalls. At the end of her presentation, you should be ready to delve into the world of AI and genealogy on your own.

Segal is a retired newspaper reporter and editor who has applied her research skills to her genealogical work. She is a 2021 graduate of Boston University's Certificate Program in Genealogical Research and is the author of the book "All My Love: The True Story of a Correspondence Courtship," based on the 605 letters her parents wrote to each other from 1948-49.

The meeting will take place at the Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater.

 Schmoozing begins at 1:30 p.m.

Presentation starts at 2 p.m.

The Gulf Coast JFCS William and Sally Israel Food Pantry supports families and individuals in need including through our Family Reunification Services program. Your support ensures program counselors and coordinators can access healthy food items for families experiencing food insecurity. Removing worry about food shortages allows families to focus on other vital building blocks for healthy families. Please consider supporting those in need through the following ways:

Bring food donations to JGSTB meetings. Donate debit cards or cash to Gulf Coast JFCS in person or through their website or through its Amazon store.
