There is a new genealogy documentary film called Fioretta about Eric Randol "Randy" Schonberg. Next week, Randy will be in Sarasota for a sneak preview of this film for the Sarasota Film Festival on Saturday, March 25 at 7 PM at Burns Court. In this film (starring Randy and his son), Randy traces his family back 500 years to the founding of the Venetian ghetto. Randy is a volunteer curator on Geni, and one of Geni's most active users.

The Jewish Genealogical Society of SW FL has arranged for Randy to speak at Temple Emanu-El (151 McIntosh Road, Sarasota) on Friday March 24 at 10 AM. Schoenberg was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in the widely acclaimed movie, Woman in Gold. This movie is based on the true story of Maria Altmann, an elderly Jewish refugee living in Cheviot Hills, Los Angeles, who, together with her young lawyer, Randy Schoenberg, fought the government of Austria for almost a decade to reclaim Gustav Klimt's iconic painting of her aunt Adele Bloch-Bauer. FYI, Woman in Gold stars Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds (as E. Randol Schoenberg), and Katie Holmes, can be seen on Netflix.
